ABC Classic FM radio broadcast schedule

Tuesday 6th November, 1pm

Oriental Pictures: Satsuki Odamura (Koto), Miki Tsunoda (Violin) and Bronwyn Patrick (Shakuhachi) perform a beautiful selection of works by Pachelbel, Mussorsky, and some special arrangements by Julian Yu. Julian Yu transforms Western and Eastern classics, and has created a suite of exquisite minatures for this unique combination of instruments.

Wednesday 7th, 1pm

With Shall We dream? Gondwana Chorale is famous for creating and championing new Australian choral music. This segment feature's Lou Bennett's Koorah Koo-rie a new work commisioned by Four Winds to open the new Sound Shell.

In Resonance, two of Australia's most iconic didgeridoo players Mark Atkins and William Barton perform together for the first time. A sound feast of solos, duets, works with a cello quartet lead by Daniel Yeadon, and a new Australian work Hear Me, and Remember by John Rodgers.

Wednesday 7th, 8pm

The Big Squeeze: James Crabb, Scottish accordian alchemist entrances with a vocabulary of sounds and repertoire that transcend the traditional sounds of the accordian. He is joined by Four Winds' Artistic Director and recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey, as well as a string trio.

Luminous: Nick Tsiavos' liminal is a fresh and enthralling composition which fuses early music, jazz, and contemporary classical languages. Deborah Kayser's unwordly voice soars above the dark, endlessly shifting, ensemble colors in a 60-minute song without words.

Thursday 8th, 1pm

Tango Sensations: A theatrical program of brooding, sensual music performed by ACO2 with James Crabb and Genevieve Lacey. Includes works by Piazzola, Arensky, Sallinen, and Sammartini. ACO2 combines the stars of the ACO with the best young string musicians Australia has to offer, creating a fresh, energetic performance style.
